
ECI Increases Remuneration of Election Officers Ahead of Assembly Elections in 5 States
The Election Commission has increased the remuneration of presiding officers, polling staff, enumeration staff, micro-observers and other officials associated with the conduct of polls ahead of the Assembly elections in five states, an official said on Wednesday.
The official said the revised structure aims to ensure adequate compensation and motivate employees who work long and demanding hours during elections.
Assembly elections will be held in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry next month. The daily allowance for presiding officers has been increased from the earlier ₹350 to ₹500 per day, or a total of ₹2,000 per assignment, he said.
Police officers will now get ₹400 a day, up from ₹250 earlier, or a lump sum payment of ₹1,600, the official said.– PTI
