August 23, the North Assam school near India with Bhutan had a “Galactic” reason to celebrate the National Space Day for the first time since its foundation in 1953.
That day Tamulpur Higher High School became 15. Educational institution across the territorial region (BTR) with an area of 8,970 square kiloland to play a space laboratory. BTR is governed by the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), an autonomous body according to the sixth schedule of the Constitution.
For the BTC bodies, the Haladhar Ujir Ujir memorial laboratory was at the school in Tamulpur, a small town about 73 km north of Guwahati, more than fulfilling the goal within the Bodoland education program. It was one step closer to the goal to develop a scientific temperament in students across most government schools in BTR.
“The first space laboratory was inaugurated in July 2024 at the Secondary School in Sidli-Kashikotra in the Chirang district. It was one of six schools focused on the first phase, followed by nine in the second, including Saturday on Saturday (3025 in Tamulpur).
The Chirang School was also the first in the northeast to have a space laboratory equipped with an optical binoculars for planetary observation, modified Launchers PSLV/GSLV models, a useful CANSAT load set for simulated launch and microcontroller experiments and experiments based on microcontroller and telemetry.
The Space Lab initiative was a dream project of Pramod Boro, BTC director, who wanted thousands of students in BTR to “catch up with the rest of the world” through the teachings of practical STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
Mr. Kashyap said that the initial plan is to establish space laboratories at 10 higher secondary schools after the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the BTR and Space Academy government, a “space lecturer”.
The spokesperson of Ziptzer said that more than 3,000 BTR students dealt with their curriculum aligned through activities such as rockets building, creating a useful load and explanation of orbital concepts to people who are not with astronomy.
Local taste
Each of the 15 space laboratories was named after a local educator or community leader to support the feeling of ownership between the parties. For example, the Sidli-Kashikotra Space Laboratory is named after Chino Basumatary, a journalist who died in September 2010.
The reason for connecting cosmic laboratories with local luminaires was their campaigns against social evil, such as witches hunting, which once dominated in many parts of BTR.
“Laboratories are changing thinking. Students who have been vague about their careers are now thinking about becoming scientists in space and discussing black holes and supernova,” said Manju Boro, director of Sidli-Kashikotry High School.
Rajen Brahm of Btr’s Udalguri admitted that he did not think much about the captain of the IAF Shukla group until his sixteen -year -old daughter did not participate in his meaning. “It is good to know that schools are taking classrooms into space, which is a huge jump from what we have experienced,” he said.
