Assam Main Minister Sue Biswa Sarma on Friday (May 9, 2025) asked organisms to cancel the remaining functions of Rongali Biha or Bohag Bihu since May 10.
Rongali Bihu, the spring festival, refers to the beginning of the new year. The highly popular Bihi functions are organized from mid -April to mid -May.

The main minister has not given any reason for his challenge, but it is believed that the appeal is related to the ongoing conflict in India, Pakistan on the terrorist attack of Pahalgam 22 April.
“Over the last month, we have joyfully celebrated Bihu across Assam through numerous cultural events. I honestly thank everyone for their enthusiastic participation and contributions,” he published on the X -Social Media platform.
“But now it has come to close this festive season. I humbly recall that all the remaining Bihu functions scheduled from May 10 will be kindly canceled. Let us deliver this live celebration to a charming closure, with the same unity and the spirit in which it celebrated,” he wrote.
In an ethnic conflict shredded manipure, the highest leaders of the opposition congress “Jai Hind Yatra” in the capital of the state pulled on Friday to express their solidarity with the Indian armed forces involved in conflict.

Meanwhile, safety along the border of India-Bangladesh in four northeast states-Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura were increased.
These states share a total of 1,880 km with Bangladesh. Some sensitive sections of the border remain unofficial.
A night ban along the border is one of the steps that people take to attempt to infiltrate, which is an option underlined after at least 30 Bangladesh nationals in Meghalayin Ri-Bhoi in the last few months. Some of these people came illegally while others tried to return.
“The state security forces and local defensive parties of the village were also activated, especially after some Bangladesh nationals intimidated our border protectors in the Sector in the West Jaintia Hills district,” said Meghalaya official.
