ASR Collector reviews the ‘Trishul’ strategy against crime in the district

District Collector ASR T. Nishanthi on Monday directed officials to strengthen coordinated action against drug abuse, ganja cultivation, crimes against women and road accidents at a district meeting of the National Center for Coordination of Drug Law Enforcement (NCORD) held at the Pader Collectorate.

The meeting chaired by Ms. Nishanthi reviewed the State Government’s ‘Trishul’ strategy, built around three goals – zero drugs, zero tolerance for atrocities on women and zero road accidents.

District Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar said the ‘Chaitanyam’ programme, in which villages pass resolutions against ganja cultivation, is being emulated by neighboring ganja-prone areas.

Officials said the Cordon and Search Operations covered 147 villages, while 82 previous offenders were consulted and a 10-member special task force was formed. Actions under the PIT-NDPS led to 15 arrest warrants among 32 identified persons, in addition to which 586 suspect sheets were opened. Drone and human verification of 92 locations across five mandalas found no fresh ganja cultivation.

The meeting also discussed ‘Sankalpam’ awareness initiative in schools and colleges, monitoring of social media harassment of women, identification of accident black spots and implementation of PM RAHAT for cashless treatment of road accident victims.
