Aspirants select holes in interview for the post of ART Doctor in Kozhikode MCH

A section of applicants alleged that the recent interview for the post of Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) Doctor at the ART Plus Centre, Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, was conducted without following the guidelines of the National AIDS Control Organisation.

These centers offer treatment to people with HIV. The position of the ART doctor was on a contractual basis. The interview took place on 18 June 2026. However, the applicants, who did not wish to be quoted, claimed that media advertisements to this effect appeared on the same day. Because of this, many eligible people could not attend the interview.

Although the interview was held in the office of a senior administrative official, the official did not attend. Normally, the interview committee should include the director of the medical school and the faculty from the microbiology department who is the responsible officer of the HIV testing and counseling center. However, the complainants alleged that only the head of the medical department and a junior doctor and a representative of the Kerala State AIDS Control Society were on the board. Twelve people came to the interview. The complainants argued that the attempt was to select a candidate that suited the interests of the board.

Meanwhile, medical school officials said on Sunday (June 21, 2026) that they would look into the allegations.
