Asian Para Games 2026: Ayush Verma adds gold to javelin bronze

Ayush Verma (Image credit: SAI) India’s Ayush Verma won the gold medal in men’s shot put F53 at the Asian Para Games on Wednesday.Ayush’s best throw of 8.16m came in his fifth attempt and helped him finish first.Alireza Hemami of Iran won the silver medal with a throw of 8.09 m. Kazakhstan’s Makhambet Serikkaliev took the bronze with 6.81 m.

Second medal for Ayush

Ayush added a second medal at the Games. On Tuesday, he won bronze in the men’s F53/F54 javelin.

What is category F53?

The F53 category is intended for athletes who have limited movement in the trunk and legs, while their hand grip is less affected.Athletes compete from a seated position and use their chest, upper back and shoulders to generate power for their throws.
