Asian Games, September 30 programme: Lovlina, hockey headline of India's medal hopes

September 30 could be another big day for India at the Asian Games, with medal opportunities spread across boxing, archery, shooting, canoeing, slalom, cycling, judo, wrestling and sport climbing. The action starts early, with several Indian athletes vying for a spot in the finals and medal rounds.

India’s esports contingent will also be in action, with the League of Legends team facing Hong Kong, Korea Republic and Chinese Taipei in Group B matches during the day.

Lovlina Borgohain will be one of the key names in the spotlight when she takes on Kazakhstan’s Natalya Bogdanova in the women’s 75kg semi-final. Priya will also be in semi-final action in the women’s 60kg category against China’s Yang Chengyu.

Archery could provide more medal opportunities, with India’s composite women’s, mixed and men’s teams all featuring in semi-final or medal matches. The shooting contingent is also scheduled for the mixed team trap finals, subject to qualification.

Later in the day, the Indian women’s hockey team will face South Korea in the semi-finals. Wrestlers Sunil Kumar and Nisha Dahiya could also feature in the medal matches if they advance in their respective events.

Cycling, canoe slalom, judo and sport climbing round out the packed program and give India several more chances to add to the medal haul.
