Asian Games 2026: Where to watch in India

The 20th Asian Games, starting on September 19, 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, will feature 45 countries competing in 43 sports. For India, Sony Sports Network has acquired the broadcast and streaming rights for the 2026 Asian Games. The high-octane tournament will be telecast in four languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
The Games will be held in Japan for the third time after Tokyo hosted it in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994. Expectations are high for the performance of the Indian contingent in the multi-sport tournament after winning an all-time high of 107 medals in the last Asian Games in 2023.
Where to watch Asian Games on OTT?
The Asian Games will be available to stream for Indian viewers on the Sony LIV app. This allows viewers to catch all the action from the field on mobile and laptop. However, this feature is only available to subscribers.
Where to watch on TV?
For TV viewers, the Asian Games will be telecast live on Sony Sports 1 and Sony Sports 5 TV channels in India. It will also be telecast live in regional languages on Sony Sports 3 (Hindi) and Sony Sports 4 (Tamil, Telugu and Kannada).
What to expect from the Indian contingent at the Asian Games?
India is targeting the 2026 Asian Games to build on its record-breaking campaign at Hangzhou 2023, where it won 107 medals, including 28 gold. In hockey, the Indian men’s team would enter the arena as the reigning champions and take on Japan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Indonesia. Shreyas Iyer will lead India’s title defense in men’s T20 cricket, while Harmanpreet Kaur is the captain of the women’s T20 team.
It would be a big disappointment for Indian spectators that defending javelin champion Neeraj Chopra will be missing from this tournament due to his withdrawal due to an ankle injury.
India will pin their hopes on PV Sindhu for a medal in badminton. Mirabai Chanu will lead the weightlifting contingent, while Manu Bhaker will be India’s best bet in shooting and Aman Sehrawat will fight for a medal in wrestling.
