Day 12 of the 2026 Asian Games promises another packed schedule for India, with defending champions Shreyas Iyer’s cricket team and Harmanpreet Singh’s hockey team taking center stage in the crucial semi-finals. The high-profile India-Pakistan volleyball quarter-final adds another big clash to a day that also offers medal opportunities in shooting, archery, squash, wrestling, judo and cycling.
The day begins with the India-Pakistan men’s volleyball quarter-final at 6:30 am IST. India will look to book a place in the last four in the next meeting between these two neighbours.
At 10am, the focus shifts to cricket where Shreyas Iyer-led India take on Sri Lanka in the men’s semi-final. India are aiming to retain the gold medal they won in the previous edition and need to overcome Sri Lanka to reach the final.
Hockey provides another big encounter between India and Pakistan later in the day. Harmanpreet Singh et al. will face Pakistan in the men’s semi-final at 1 pm IST. As the tournament is also significant for the race for an early qualification spot for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, India will be looking to secure a place in the finals.
Rounding off the shooting program is Anish Bhanwala, who will compete in the second leg of the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol qualification from 6.10am. Bhanwala is fifth after the opening stage, with the final scheduled for noon if he advances.
In archery, Chikitha Taniparthi and Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru will compete in their individual composite quarter-finals. The squash teams, who have already secured medals, will face Hong Kong China and Malaysia in the women’s and men’s semi-finals.
Wrestlers Sumit Dalal, Aman, Nitesh Kumar and Mansi Ahlawat begin their campaigns while judokas Yamini Mourya and Inunganbi Takhellambam are also participating in the competition. Cycling brings two more medal events, with Harshveer Singh Sekhon competing in the men’s omni and Harshita Jakhar and Swasti Singh in the women’s madison.
Sumit Nagal will face China’s Wu Yibing in the men’s singles quarter-finals, while India also competes in canoe slalom, sport climbing, taekwondo and sailing. The women’s rugby sevens team begin their campaign against Hong Kong China before taking on the People’s Republic of China.
