Bangladesh’s story in the world cricket was disrupted by the history of close mistakes. Premature celebration against Mrs. Dhoni India at the T20 2016 World Cup, Dinesh Karthik’s Incredible Heist in Nidahas Trophy, and recently, when only 4 runs against South Africa at the T20 2024 World Cup – Bangladesh in the harsh moments.
And yet they refuse to learn. On Saturday, September 20, things almost disintegrated when Bangladesh tried to chase a 169-run goal against Sri Lanka, although he needed one run from the last 5 balls.
Bangladesh chased 169 runs in the first match Super 4 Asia Cup 2025, almost did everything right. The Saif Hassan opener brought the T20i to the T20i format and hit an excellent knocking of 61 45 balls. With 5 needed from the final 6, Jaker Ali pulled a short ball on four on the first ball of the finals. Jaker, hoping to finish the match with the bang, tried to get off and hit Dasun Shanaka at six in the next ball. How he lost his shape and was slipped in the second ball over.
Any other team in the world might block the ball and pick up the single to finish the game. No, no Bangladesh.

Mahedi Hasan, next inside, tried to slap a short ball into the middle goal and ended the ball back to the goalkeeper. The referee called it, but Drs was there to save the red in Sri Lanka.
The equation now looked very different. Bangladesh stuck on one run to win, now there are only 2 balls left. Momentum was with Sri Lanka and were ready for it.

Captain Charith Asala’s all of his field against NASUM Ahmed, who tapped the fifth ball above the short point and fell apart. Fortunately, Shamim Hossain reacted well at the other end and threw his body to complete the last run. Shamim was still kilometers out of his fold, but the throw from the point missed the stumps and on Saturday he handed the nerve victory Litton Das.
