Former Main Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot on 6 August focused on the premiere of Narendra Modi and accused him of being a “weak leader”.
Congress’s leader claimed that India was increasingly surrounded by challenges on all fronts under the leadership of Modi and quoted the recent “unsubstantiated” statement of US President Donald Trump.
“US President Donald Trump has repeatedly made an unjustified statement against India and claimed that he had mediated a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He now takes a decision against Indian business interests,” Gehlot said.
Trump, after depositing another 25 % tariff on India’s new Delhi ties with Russia, again indicated the deposit of “secondary sanctions”. The US President made a fresh threat of “secondary sanctions” when he asked him why India was selected for his business ties with Russia, but not other countries that buy Russian energy.
“It’s just 8 hours. We’ll see what happens. You’ll see much more … you’ll see so many secondary sanctions,” Trump said.
“PM Narendra Modi never commented”
Gehlot also criticized Narendra Modi for not directly dealing with Trump’s remarks, saying that despite the provocations, the Prime Minister had never publicly commented on the US President’s comments.
Congress also accused China and Pakistan of open alignment with India.
“While our armed forces reacted strongly, India is politically and diplomatically isolated,” he said, calling it “failure” of Narendra’s leadership.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who boasts his “56-INHO chest”, turns out to be a weak leader.
