England have drawn the line on the infamous Ashes trip to Noosa after an internal investigation found the players had no case to answer, according to a Daily Mail report. After England’s Adelaide Test loss, there were reports that the four-day trip to Noosa was a stag do, with some players saying they did little more than support the bar.
The England cricket board has gone into damage limitation mode when a video of opener Ben Duckett appearedshowing him heavily intoxicated and hazy during an interaction with a fan. Before starting the fourth test, CEO Rob Key said he would look into the matter because it was not behavior that would be appropriate for an international team.
Daily Mail Sport reports that the investigation found nothing worse than drinking beer, confirming suspicions in the ECB hierarchy that anything serious during the trip would be reported immediately rather than waiting for the Ashes to be lost in Adelaide. Key spoke to the extra security that had been put in place for the trip in case some players deviated from the main group to another location and found that no intervention was needed. One senior security official said reports of the deer’s mood were completely off the mark.
The ECB was kept on guard for most of the investigation due to fears that another Duckett style could emerge and go viral in the meantime. However, the feeling is that if such a video existed, it would have been released by now.
Despite the fact that no action will be taken against the England players, there is a general consensus among management that aspects of the ongoing Ashes tour have been relaxed. A lot will hinge on the fifth and final Test as England look to win the second match in an away Ashes for the second time since 1986-87 when it comes to going out of the Ashes series.
The final Test of the series will begin on 4 January 2026 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
