Joe Root believes it is better equipped than ever to conquer Australia, and eventually ended its long -term drought of England when England went under ashes to 2025.
When he spoke to Sky Sports at the celebrity event in Sheffield, a 34 -year -old man expressed confidence in his form and thinking before what promises to be different a sharply attacked series. Root, which in Australia average 35.68 out of 14 tests, admitted that being without the pressure of the captain gave him restored clarity and freedom in folding.
“I feel I am in a different place than I last went there,” Root said. “I have no responsibility for the captain and now I am much more experienced. I had a few years of good years and learned important lessons from previous tours as a dough and senior player.”
Root’s record in Australia has long been a topic of discussion. Despite the score of over 11,000 test runs and a total of 30 centuries, a total of three characters in Australian conditions did not reach. In 27 shifts, his highest score remains 89, with his name nine half missiles. Yet Yorkshireman insists that personal awards are secondary to team success.
“I’m sure he’ll talk a lot about it that I won’t score a hundred yet,” he said. “But I feel ready for it. The big series are the ones you want to play in and those you want to contribute. You want to create memories with your teammates that you can share for the rest of your life.”
Root stressed that it focused on helping England for the first time since 2015. “If I do my role in the team, personal milestones will come,” he added. “It’s not the main focus – it’s about the victory that Urn back. It’s been long since we held it.”
