CPI (m) Secretary General Ma Baby.
The Association of Healthcare workers Keral Asha (Kahwa) wrote to the new Secretary General of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI (M)), Ma Baby, which refers to their demands and concerns and that the government and the party will again consider their approach to acting by social health activist (Ashas).
Kahwa said in his letter to Mr. Baby that their 58 -day strike received public and media support because their requirements were legitimate, their protests were democratic in nature, and also because it was a mass movement of women.
Immense social responsibility
The fact that Ashas dealt with work that had a huge social responsibility, despite the poor wages they received, was another factor in their favor.
He said that Kahwa was an independent movement of female workers and that they had not tried to transform agitation into a political movement against the government at any time. Therefore, Mr. Baby’s earlier statement that agitation was led by anti -government forces was very harmful, Kahwa said.
He stated that the government was well aware of the fact that the current fee of 7,000 GBP received by Ashas was not insufficient. In his election manifesto, LDF promised that the Ashas fee would be raised at 21,000 GBP. Another big demand was the pension benefits for the melody of 5 lakh, which has already been done in many countries.
Not for long -term agitation
Kahwa pointed out that he did not intend to unnecessarily prolong agitation, but asked the government to approach them agitation with greater empathy.
He stated that the financial difficulties of the government or its disputes with the center should not be used to negotiate with Ash, which raised only the basic requirements and fought for the interests of ASHA workers throughout the state.
He stated that at a time when all the movement movements and rights of workers face challenges, the disturbance of Ashas for fundamental rights should not be ignored or discredited, because it lit a new hope among the working class communities.
Agitation Ashas not only caused new awareness of the rights between workers, but also proved to be a symbol of the dignity of the female workers. The left government, more than anyone else, should support such a constructive movement, Kahwa appealed.
