With the first Friday, Ashada scheduled for 27th June, the Mysur District Administration is preparing to manage a massive influx of devoted to Chamundeshwari at Chamundi hills and expects to participate in more than two devotees on Friday.
A number of measures have been introduced to ensure smooth Darshan and prevent Netvar incidents. On Wednesday, the deputy Commissioner (DC) G. Lakshmikant Reddy, together with higher officials and the temple and readiness, reviewed.
As in previous years, private vehicles on the hill will not be allowed from Friday to Sunday during the season. Free shuttle buses will operate from a temporary bus booth near the Lalitha Mahal Palace for managing the crowd and reducing overload at the top of the hill.
“All private vehicles are banned these days. Free KSRTC buses will be ferry devotees from the foot. The entrance system was categorized to avoid confusion,” Mr. Reddy said after a press conference after the inspection.

Three -stage Darshan System
This year, a three -stage Darshan system with devotees will be introduced to choose – Darshan for free, Darshan for the price of 300 GBP or special Darshan for the price of 2,000 GBP.
Tickets will be available on the bus track and in the parking lot near Lalitha Mahal Helpad. Separate shuttle buses will be operated on the basis of ticket category. “The devotees will be segregated at the foot and appropriately guided to avoid mixing lines,” DC added.
The devotion according to the category of their leaves must be in separate queues and achieve a common entrance point inside the temple space and ensure properly Darshan without mixing the cheek and free entry queues.
Dasoha arrangement
On the first Friday, the temple authorities will be managed by Dasoha (offer of bulk food).
Mr. Reddy explained that no private individuals or organizations could distribute pigs at the top of the hills despite several requirements. The official dasoha will only be organized behind the temple in the open space only on the first Friday, he added.
Security measures
Police Commissioner Seema Latkar said more than 1,000 police staff would be deployed from Friday to Sunday. Security will be maintained throughout the day in three shifts. Two DCPs, 12 ACP, two other SPS, 20 inspectors and the women’s KSRP team will have security.
Other CCTV cameras were installed to supervise and move on routes like Lalithadripura, Uttanahali and Tavarekere will be limited to Friday Ashada. Alternative routes will be informed to the public, she added.
To help navigate the devotees, QR codes will be available directly to the designated parking space and bus booth, Mrs. Latkar reported.
The traffic movement to the hill will be stopped from 10:00 on Thursday and then only the residents of Chamundi with a valid ID will be allowed to enter, told reporters.
