
Veteran singer Asha Bhosle is currently undergoing treatment at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai following a health scare. Asha Bhosle, one of the most celebrated playback singers in the history of Indian music, was rushed to the hospital on Saturday evening, April 11, after her condition deteriorated due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. Earlier reports suggested the 92-year-old woman was rushed to medical treatment after suffering a cardiac arrest, but Zanai Bhosle’s granddaughter dismissed such reports.

Sharing Asha Bhosle’s health update, Zanai Bhosle sought privacy during this difficult time and said her grandmother is undergoing treatment as she shared optimism about her recovery and progress.
Zanai Bhosle wrote on Instagram: “My grandmother Asha Bhosle due to extreme exhaustion and suffering from a chest infection has been admitted to the hospital and we request you to respect our privacy. Treatment is ongoing and hopefully all will be well and we will update you positively.”
Born in Goar, Maharashtra
Asha Bhosle, the younger sister of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, was born on September 8, 1933 in a small village of Goar in Sangli to a prominent Mangeshkar family. She grew up in the musical family of Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar, who was Marathi and Konkani, and his Gujarati wife Shevanti.
Her soprano voice, often attributed to her versatility, is known for melodious ghazals, bhajans, traditional Indian classical music, folk songs, qawwalis and Rabindra Sangeet, in addition to her work in film and pop music.
The legendary singer has performed in more than 20 Indian and foreign languages and recorded more than 12,000 songs during her career. Asha Bhosle has been the voice of many leading ladies including Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Zeenat Aman, Kajol, Urmila Matondkar and South actors like Padmini and Vyjayanthimala.

‘Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar’, ‘In Ankhon Ki Masti’, ‘Dil Cheez Kya Hai’, ‘Piya Tu Ab to Aaja’, ‘Duniya Mein Logon Ko’ and ‘Zaara Se Jhoom Loon Main’ are some of her famous and popular soundtracks. She even had live performances in India and abroad.
Several awards and accolades have recognized her significant contribution to the music industry. In 2008, she was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian honour, after receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000. Other awards include Banga Bibhushan (2018) and Maharashtra Bhushan (2021). Her name was entered in the Guinness Book of Records in 2011.
