The annual contracts on the preservation of the Criket Board in India (BCCI) came up with several surprises. A total of 34 players were awarded a central contract for the 2024-25 season, while Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan regained their preservation after they were omitted last year.
While the return of Shreyas Iyera to the list of contract players was largely expected, several eyebrows were raised when Ishan Kishan also received his contract. During the contract – from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025, the goal plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025.
Ishan last represented India in the T20i series against Australia at home in November 2023. He then traveled to South Africa as a backup goal, but had no opportunity to play. Ishan returned home in the middle of the series and quoted the need for a rest due to a hectic schedule.
But both Shreyas and Ishan were previously penalized For not preferred the home cricket at a time when BCCI emphasized the importance of contracting players participating in domestic accessories.
This means that both players were regular for their relevant state teams – Mumbai and Jharkhand – during the 2024-25 season.
In August 2024, Shreyas returned to the Senior National Side on the ODI series and played a key role in the Indian triumph of trophies.
Meanwhile, Ishan performed in India in India, which last year visited Australia for two four-day matches ahead of Trophy Border-Gavascar, signaling that he remained in BCCI plans. The 26 -year -old man was previously part of all three formats for India, and the Council seems to have taken his past performances in the renewal of his contract.
However, Ishan’s immediate future with a higher national team remains uncertain and his performance in IPL 2025 will be essential if he is to find his way back to an international claim.
The large three preserved in the upper bracket
Elsewhere, the heavy weight of the Virt Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja kept their seats in the upper holder – Grade A+ – next to Jasprit Bumhrah.
Kohli, Rohit and Jadeja left the T20i cricket after playing in the Indian World Cup victory in June 2024. Yet the trio remains in category A+, which usually includes players of all formats.
It remains to be found whether these three will continue in the upper bracket when the contracts are in 2026 for renewal.
According to sources, the upcoming tour in England, starting on June 20, Could be essential for Rohit and Kohli’s test futures After a slim charm with a bat during the 2024-25 season.
Rishabh Pant was promoted from grade B to degree A, while R Ashwin was removed from the list after his retirement from all formats last year.
Jitesh Sharma, Shardul Thakur, Avesh Khan and KS Bharat were also dropped from the list of contract players along with Ashwin.
