Arunachal Pradesh is in danger of losing its Ranji Trophy opener due to the association tussle
Arunachal Pradesh are at risk of forfeiting their Plate Group Ranji Trophy opener against Nagaland, starting October 11 in Ahmedabad, due to the ongoing tussle between the warring factions and a case pending before the Itanagar Bench of the Guwahati High Court.
On that day, Arunachal could not field its U-19 team for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy one-dayer against Sikkim in Bhubaneswar. At this time, there is no one in the association to turn to for selection matters.
It was learned that even the professional players who were contracted to represent the state this season are currently in limbo and have not been informed whether to join in Ahmedabad for the Ranji opener.
The Arunachal Pradesh Cricket Association held elections in September, with Nabam Vivek elected as president, but several district associations moved the Supreme Court over alleged irregularities in the polls.
The High Court reserved its order and even the BCCI cannot currently form an independent selection committee as was the case with Bihar. Nabam Vivek, who won the election, could not be contacted as it is a legal proceeding.
