In addition to engineering universities, art and scientific universities in Tamil Nadu, they become outbreaks for business. With the spread of innovation and beginning cultures, universities improve their incubation cells and create partnerships with key players in the business ecosystem. As a result, the growing number of students who are engaged in art and science courses go beyond traditional career and dare to the world of business and bring new ideas and energy to the beginning scene.
On Madras Christian College (MCC), seeds for incubation cell were seeds in 2020. In 2022, programs for supportive beginnings started. The incubation cell helps students with financing up to 1 lakh. Professors also have grants for research and development.
Become large businesses
A handful of starting companies incubated in MCC has become large businesses. For example, the company called Vivivobots raised up to 2.5 GBP and set up a separate research and development unit in the Angattura. Another start-up, called Allythriz Technologies, was recognized as one of the best 100 promising start-ups 2024-25.
The Stella Maris College incubation center was founded in 2023 with MRF financing. On Ethiraj College there are 10 new initiatives for start-ups-OSM students led by students and two mentors. Universities in Tier-2 and Tier-3 in Tamil Nadu also accept the initial wave.
Over the years, engineering universities have successfully raised beginners and provided them with resources, mentoring and support in the competing landscape. Many of these businesses attracted significant financing and government support. The CRESCENT Innovation and Insubation Council (CIIC) within the BS Abdur Rahman Crescent of Science and Technology, supported and supported start -ups on the premises. Since its foundation in 2019, it has supported more than 210 start -ups. This year about nine start -up businesses have been accommodated. It will now focus on streamlining regulatory processes and offering specialized mentor programs that will equip start -ups with advanced business skills and help attract experienced industrial mentors. “Another key initiative is to strengthen access to the market by organizing demo days, network events and pilot projects with corporate partners and ensuring that start -ups can effectively scal their innovations. To address the international market, especially for the soft landing of our starting products.
The level of level II was not behind. Since its foundation, more than 80 start-ups have been incubated at ThiaGarajar College of Engineering-Technology Business Business Incubator (TBI), which was founded in 2014 with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology (DST) and National Council for Science and Technology.
For 2024-25 institutions, the institution incubated 25 start-ups and 12 student start-ups are in the phase before incubation. Several start -ups incubated on TBI TBI have been successfully modified. Sebin Sunny P., CEO of TCE TBI, says: “ThiaGarajar Telecom Solutions pvt. TCI focuses on strengthening its incubation framework to expand its academic vertical to incubate 100 student starting, in the next three years.
Challenges
Meanwhile, universities with incubation cells emphasized several challenges. Art and scientific universities point out that female projects are often not taken seriously because of the perception that women will not follow their ideas after graduation. Students of technical universities claim to have limited access to advanced test and certification equipment. Some students have expressed concern that prototyping and production costs are very high and business houses offer limited support if the institution is not exceptionally large.
