Arshdeep Singh under fire again: Latest trailer mocking Priyansh Arya has outraged fans
Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh has once again come under fire on social media after a viral video involving young teammate Priyansh Arya sparked a fresh controversy during the ongoing Indian Premier League season.
A video from the Punjab Kings team bus, which was allegedly uploaded to Arshdeep Singh’s Snapchat story, has surfaced online and sparked a wide debate among fans. The clip shows Priyansh Arya sitting alongside teammate Harpreet Brar at the back of the bus as the team appears to be traveling in Lucknow, where the Punjab Kings are currently based.
Although Arshdeep is not seen on camera, fans have identified his voice in the background. In the clip, Priyansh is heard teasing Arya about his smile, saying, “That’s cute, man! Show me your smile. Show me your teeth,” before breaking into laughter.
The interaction quickly divided opinion online. While a few fans brushed it aside as harmless banter between teammates in the locker room, many others criticized the video and questioned whether the youngster was being disliked during the exchange.
Priyansh Arya is seen looking away from the camera during the interaction and continuing the phone call, with social media users pointing to his body language and debating whether the teasing crossed the line.
The final push comes just days later Arshdeep faced criticism for another viral clip involving Tilak Varma. In that video, the Punjab Kings were heard saying “Hello and here” as he addressed Tilak, prompting some fans online to accuse him of making an insensitive remark.
Arshdeep also attracted attention after he reacted strongly to a fan on social media who suggested that Punjab Kings remove “Punjab” from their franchise name. The left arm stimulator replied that he couldn’t take advice from people who kept asking their family for money to buy chips and cold drinks.
The controversy unfolded during a difficult period for Punjab Kings on the field. The franchise had suffered six straight losses, leaving playoff hopes hanging in the balance. Punjab Kings now need to beat Lucknow Super Giants in their last league match to stay in the play-off game.
Despite the criticism surrounding Arshdeep on social media, Punjab Kings head of sports science Andrew Leipus said the pacemaker remained mentally intact.
“I don’t follow social media much myself, so I know there’s been a bit of chatter behind the scenes of different things going on, vlogging and whatnot. I don’t know,” Leipus told reporters ahead of Punjab Kings’ clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
