Arshdeep Singh has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct in the T20 World Cup final against New Zealand. Arshdeep, who hit New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell with a noisy throw in the summit clash, reprimanded the International Cricket Council.
The ICC announced its decision on Tuesday, March 10, stating that Arshdeep has been fined for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct. Arshdeep was found to have breached Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which refers to “throwing the ball (or any other cricket equipment) at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an international match.”

In addition to the fine, one demerit point was added to Arshdeep’s disciplinary record. It was the Indian bowler’s first offense in 24 months.
The ICC revealed that there was no need for a formal hearing as the Indian bowler accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC’s elite panel of umpires.

A Level 1 breach carries a minimum penalty of an official warning and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of the player’s match fee plus one or two demerit points. When a player achieves four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they are converted to suspension points and the player is expelled.
