Arsenal is showing significant interest in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich on a free transfer, according to reports emerging from Germany.
Kimmich’s current contract is nearing its end, and while an extension to keep him in Munich until 2028 seemed imminent, talks stalled earlier this week.
Bayern has expressed frustration with Kimmich’s indecision and has warned the 30-year-old that he must formally declare his desire to stay if he wishes to continue negotiations.
While Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester City have all been linked with Kimmich, Sky Germany has named Arsenal as the leading suitor for his signature.
Arsenal’s interest is described as “specific,” with discussions reportedly taking place in recent days. The Gunners are looking to strengthen their squad following the departure of Jorginho and see Kimmich as a high-quality replacement for the Italian international.
Kimmich has reportedly received two written offers from clubs abroad and has informed Bayern that he is considering his options. It remains unclear if Arsenal is among the suitors, but it has been emphasized that Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester City have yet to submit any formal offers.
An extension with Bayern remains a possibility, but only if Kimmich takes the initiative. However, even if he reopens talks, he is unlikely to secure a deal similar to the one previously withdrawn.
