Up to 489 road projects, which were originally scheduled for completion until March 2025, are waiting for delay in land obtaining, forestry guilt/wild animals and rail approval, Parliament was informed on Wednesday (July 30, 2025).
The Minister of Road Transport Union and Nitin Motorway Motorway highways said in a written response to Rajya Sabha that the government is making all efforts to resolve the waiting questions in close coordination with state governments and other parties to the completion of these projects.

Mr Gadkari said that in some delayed projects, costs were exceeded due to various factors such as increased cost and structure compensation, price escalating, impact of goods and services (GST), other VUP/puppies/otherwise, change in general drawing (GAD)/road/road design rail/Robs) that meet railways).
If the projects are more unquestionable for some reasons and further progress in the ongoing contract is not expected, the contract is terminated/excluded and re -recognized, with modification or without modification in the project configuration, he added.
In response to the independent question, Mr. Gadkari stated that the national highways are designed in accordance with the specifications of the Indian road congress (IRC).
“The maximum design speed designed for the construction of national motorways in various terrains is 120 km/h for highways and 100 km/h for national highways,” he said.
