Arnav Paparkar’s dream Wimbledon run ends after quarter-final loss to Jordan Lee
Arnav Paparkar’s historic Wimbledon 2026 campaign came to an end in the boys’ singles quarter-finals on Thursday as American Jordan Lee outclassed the Indian 6-2, 7-5 to book a place in the last four.
The defeat marked Paparkar’s third loss to Lee in a month, with the American continuing his dominance over the Indian youngster. Lee had earlier defeated Paparkar 6-3, 6-1 at the J300 Roehampton grass tournament before winning 6-3, 6-4 at the J300 Charleroi-Marcinelle clay tournament. The Wimbledon quarter-finals were similar, with Lee proving too strong at key moments.

Paparkar struggled to get a foothold on Lee’s serve despite creating opportunities for himself. The Indian converted just one of his four break point chances, while Lee converted four of his 13 opportunities to take control of the match.
Although Paparkar fired eight aces compared to Lee’s three, inconsistency on his second serve proved costly. He won just 31 percent of his second-serve points, while Lee scored 53 percent.
Paparkar hit 23 winners, two more than Lee, but Lee balanced his aggressive play with discipline, committing only 20 unforced errors to Paparkar’s 22. Lee also enjoyed more success from the baseline and used longer layups to wear down the Indian.
PAPARKAR LOSES BUT SHOWS ONE INDIA
Despite the quarter-final exit, Wimbledon 2026 will be remembered as the breakthrough tournament of Paparkar’s junior career. The 18-year-old became the first Indian in 36 years to reach the boys’ singles quarter-finals at Wimbledon since Leander Paes did it in 1990.
Paparkar began his campaign with a dominant opening-round victory before causing one of the biggest surprises of the tournament, knocking out third seed and junior world No.3 Keaton Hance 6-2, 6-3 in the second round.
He then dismantled Japan’s Ryo Tabata 6-2, 6-1 in just 52 minutes storm into the round of 16 and showcase his powerful serve and fearless ball-striking. While Lee again proved a difficult obstacle, Paparkar’s run underlined his rapid progress on the junior circuit.
After reaching the third round at Roland Garros and now becoming the first Indian boy in over three decades to reach the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, the teenager leaves London with a boost in confidence and a growing belief that bigger milestones lie ahead as he prepares to make the transition to the professional circuit.
