The Army on Thursday found a shipment believed to have been dropped by a drone along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said. According to PTI, the Army recovered a bag containing dozens of rounds along with a yellow tiffin box, which is suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
The incident took place early in the morning in Chakkan da Bagh area of Khari village, between Rangar Nallah and Poonch river, they said. The bomb disposal unit assessed the bag to rule out any explosive threat.

Army thwarts terrorists’ infiltration bid
Indian Army personnel foiled an infiltration attempt by terrorists along the Line of Control in Mendhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on September 1, officials said.
The infiltration bid came at the same time Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the winter capital of Jammu to take stock of the situation following last month’s heavy rains and flash floods that caused widespread damage and loss of life.
“At approximately 5:30 am, White Knight Corps units in the general area of Balakot detected suspicious movement near the LoC. The emergency forces, which prevented the infiltration attempt, immediately opened fire,” the Army’s White Knight Corps said in a post on X.
It added: “Own troops have been redeployed and reoriented to ensure safe dominance of the area using all available means. Troops maintain high alert in their areas.”
The official said heavy gunbattle resumed as army search teams approached the site of the previous encounter.
When the last reports came in, the firing between the two sides was ongoing.
According to the official, the movement of terrorists trying to infiltrate from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir was detected early in the morning near Dabbi village in Balakot area, triggering the first encounter. The terrorists tried to escape after facing heavy fire, prompting the army to rush in reinforcements and seal off the entire area for a thorough search, officials said.
