Security forces have seized at least 29 firearms and ammunition and 50 IEDs from several hill and valley districts of Manipur, police said on Saturday (March 21, 2026).
All enforcements were carried out on Friday (March 20, 2026).
During the operation, six firearms, including an AK-56 rifle, three grenades and ammunition were recovered from the Wabagai Turel Mamei area of Kakching District.
29 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along with five locally made hand grenades, five electric detonators and several other explosives were also seized from near Loisi and Saivom villages in Tengnoupal district, the agency said.

Security forces seized eleven pistols, 85 live rounds, four BP camouflage vests and three firearms from Lamdeng and Kameng areas of Imphal West district, police said.
Nine IEDs along with one pistol and ammunition were recovered from SL Zougam area under Machi police station limits in Tengnoupal.
“The recovered IED was destroyed following security protocols and standard operating procedures were followed,” the statement said.
Twelve IEDs and four radios, along with three pistols and a grenade launcher, were also recovered from Yangoubung village near the Indo-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal.
These explosive devices were destroyed on the spot, he said.
Five firearms and ammunition were seized at the foot of Tekcham Sanji Ching in Thoubal district, the statement said.
Security forces have been conducting search operations in Manipur since ethnic violence broke out two years ago.
Since May 2023, ethnic violence between the Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups has killed more than 260 people and left thousands homeless.
