Three armed men barged into a jewelery shop and assaulted two youths before allegedly fleeing with gold ornaments and cash in broad daylight near Dasanapura bus stand in Madanayakanahalli police station limits on Tuesday.
According to the police, the accused arrived at the store on a two-wheeler around 5:30 p.m., threatened those present with a pistol and tried to rob the establishment. A fight broke out with two youths who are the sons of shop owner Manikrama of Ramdev Jewellers. One of them suffered minor injuries when he tried to resist the robbers.
The trio allegedly stole over 30 grams of gold jewelery and ₹50,000 in cash before speeding away on a motorbike.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the store.
Confirming the incident, Bengaluru North West Division DCP DL Nagesh said that a case of robbery was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by a jeweler and assured that efforts are being made to trace and arrest the accused at the earliest.
“We have some leads about the accused and we are working to trace them,” Mr. Nagesh said.
