The Minister of Law Arjun Ram Meghwal said on Friday (July 18, 2025) that in the parliament against the judge of the High Court in Allahabad, Parm, the proposal in the picture is exclusively a matter of deputies and the government is nowhere in the picture.
In an interview with PTI videos, Mr. Meghwal pointed out that the internal committee established by the then chief judge of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna to look at the accusation against the judge Varma, already submitted his report.
If Judge Varma disagrees with the report and approaches the Supreme Court or the Supreme Court, it is his privilege, the Minister said.
He said that the parliament has the right to remove the judge of the Supreme Court or the judge of the High Court.
Support for at least 100 members in Lok Sabha and 50 in Rajya Sabha is necessary to carry out the proposal for the prosecution of the judge, he added.
Mr. Meghwal said it was a matter of deputies, made some effort, and the government is not in the picture.
Meanwhile, the judge Varma moved the Supreme Court and tried to invalidate the report submitted by the internal investigative panel, which found him guilty of misconduct in a number of cash.
Justice Varma attempted to cancel the recommendation of 8 May CJI Khanna at the time to remove him from his position.
The government promotes a proposal to eliminate the justice of Varma in a monsoon meeting of parliament, which is scheduled to start from 21 July.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the proposal would also be signed by his party deputies.
The 25 -page report on the survey of the Chief Judge of the High Court in Deli DK UPphyaya, recorded on the Supreme Court’s website, contains two short notes in Hindi, mentioning that after a fire in a warehouse in Delhim justice Varma in Delhi 14. The report stated that Prima facie, seemed to lead a short circuit to the fire.
Judge Varma, who was then a judge of the High Court in Delhi, strongly condemned the accusation in his reaction and stated that any cash or any of his family members had never been placed in the warehouse.
