Arijit Singh, known as the ‘Romantic King of Bollywood’ and widely regarded as one of the most popular playback singers of the modern era, announced his retirement from singing to playback movies with an emotional post on Tuesday. Amidst these developments, some old social media posts of India’s star cricketer Virat Kohli have resurfaced and are going viral.
One such post is from 2016 when Kohli wrote: “I am probably one of Arijit Singh’s biggest fans. Mesmerized by his talent and soulful voice. I am actually at a loss for words.”
Kohli reiterated his admiration in another post in 2017, calling it a “pure fanboy moment” and adding that no one had ever moved him with their voice like Arijit.
Arijit’s admiration for Kohli was also evident during the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. While performing at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad ahead of the India vs Pakistan match on 14 October, Arijit spotted Kohli warming up and, overcome with emotion during the pre-match ceremony, shouted “I love you Virat” in the middle of the song.
ARIJIT SINGH’S MS DHONI MOMENT
Arijit also openly expressed his admiration for former India captain and Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni. Top personalities like Kesariya and Tum Hi Ho thrilled the crowd during the opening ceremony of IPL 2023.
A particularly emotional moment followed at the unveiling of the trophy when Arijit touched Dhoni’s feet as a sign of respectprompting the former captain to pick him up and hug him – a gesture that quickly went viral on social media.
WHAT IS ARIJIT’S ULTIMATE PLAYED SONG?
Considered to be the most popular singer in India at the moment, Arijit’s decision to step away from film music has left fans deeply disappointed and raised questions about what lies ahead for the singer. Many are eager to know how he plans to shape the next phase of his career.
Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan features what is now Arijit Singh’s last playback track titled Matribhoomi. Details of his future projects have not yet been released. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s past posts praising Arijit Singh have once again come into limelight and are being widely shared on social media.
It is important to note that Arijit Singh only took a step back from playback singing and did not leave music altogether. Much to the relief of his fans, he will continue to play live concerts and create original music.
