As a result of the LPG crisis, many areas – especially rural regions – have reported a return to fuelwood, which is widely seen as increasing women’s labor while also causing pollution and health risks.
Modern biomass stoves, often called improved stoves (ICS), represent a significant step forward over traditional cooking methods. Unlike old-fashioned mud stoves, they can cut fuel consumption by up to two-thirds while dramatically reducing smoke.
