Arambai Tenggol (AT), an armed radical group Meitei in manipur, withdrew a ten -day shutdown that he called to protest against the arrest of his head leading ASEM Kanan Singh of June 7.
On Tuesday (June 10, 2025), he announced weaning on Tuesday (June 10, 2025), and Robin Mangang spokesman said the group was devoted to public appeal to decide to accept. “We decided to suspend the weaning to reduce the inconvenience that people from all over the valley face,” he told reporters in the state capital of Imphal.
However, he said that the group would continue with democratic forms of agitation until their leader was unconditionally released.
Arrest
“We have known that his arrest is related to some of his personal questions, but we cannot be silent because he is one of the main leaders of our organization,” Mr. Mangang said.
“Our group was created as an unarmed socio -cultural organization to preserve and promote culture and traditions of manipure. The circumstances forced us to take weapons,” he said. “Unfortunately, our struggle to protect manipures against terrorists for drug treatment has made a national investigative agency and the Central Investigation Office began to arrest our members,” he added.
Previously, government officials of manipur said that Mr. Kanan Singh, who was released from his position as the main constitution in the Police of Manipur, was arrested in connection with the case of smuggling weapons from 2020.
Return to normal
Meanwhile, five districts including the Imphal – Bishhnupur, Kakching, Imphal East, Imphal West and Thoubal – showed signs of returning to normal on Tuesday (June 10, 2025) in the morning.
On Monday (June 9, 2025) there were reports of clashes between protesters and security staff. Such incidents were reported from the Khurai Lamlong region in the Imphal East District district, Tera (Imphal West) and Nambol (Bishnupur).
Several wheels of tear shells and rubber bullets fired the security forces to distract the crowds that built roadblocks and attacked police vehicles. Two police officers suffered injuries in Zambol.
