Members of the Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF) staged a dharna at Prakasam Bhavan in Ongole on Thursday, demanding the state government to resolve the long-pending problems of teachers.
At the call of the APTF state leadership, a dharna program was organized by members of the Prakasam district of the federation and requested the government to immediately notify the teachers of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and Interim Relief (IR).
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Bashirinnisa, APTF Ongole Zone convener, said that despite the change of governments, the problems of the teachers and staff of the school have not yet been resolved.
APTF district chief secretary Prakasam B. Sesha Rao said, “The PRC has been waiting for more than two years. The PRC commission has not been appointed and four DAs (every six months) are to be fixed. The PRC commission and 30% IR should be announced soon.”
He demanded that the burden of applications and online work be reduced and that teachers be limited to tutorials. Single-teacher schools will be awarded two places regardless of the number of students on the roll.
APTF State President Ch. Manjula, who was the chief guest at the dharna, said dues of ₹25,000 crore were still pending. She demanded that gratuity and pension fund payments due after retirement should be pooled and paid immediately.
She said that a dharna would be organized in all the centers of the state to solve the long-standing problems. A dharna will be held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on March 10 demanding TET exemption for teachers who joined the service before 2010.
