The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has expressed concern over reports of violation of norms by some college managements in the state.
In a statement on Thursday, Board Secretary B. Tirupati Rao said it was observed that some colleges and universities were charging excessive fees or denying admission to students allotted seats under convenors/government quota with ulterior motives against the provisions provided by the government.
He said there were also reports that some of them had not taken effective measures to prevent or control ragging inside or outside the school premises as required by the Supreme Court guidelines and the AP Prohibition of Raging Act. The Council was also alerted to the fact that some managements have not taken the necessary steps to prevent harassment of women in workplaces and educational institutions.
He said individuals facing any such issues have been advised to report the matter to the concerned affiliated university or AP Higher Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission (APHERMC) or The AP State Council of Higher Education for remedial action.
