Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Minister Satya Kumar Yadav announced that the AP State AIDS Control Society (APSACS) has secured the first position in the country in controlling HIV cases and providing medical services.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, April 2, the minister said that the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) recently conducted a review of the performance of all AIDS control companies for the period between April and December 2025.
After review, NACO announced the rankings. Andhra Pradesh emerged on top with a score of 107 points out of a total of 141 in 33 indicators. The minister said that the state has a lead in 25 out of 33 indicators.
The minister said it was a significant improvement from the end of the 2024-25 financial year, when the state was ranked 12th in the country. In the financial year 2025-2026, APSACS started implementing systematic measures to control HIV cases and provide better health services.
NACO evaluates the performance of state AIDS control organizations and publishes cumulative scorecards every three months, according to a news release. The minister said the state is leading the way in conducting HIV testing among prisoners, regular testing of residents of orphanages and trafficked women and children in juvenile homes.
