Skywatchers, mark your calendars! The full moon of April 2025 – constantly known as Pink Moon – ascends on Saturday 12 April. It is also called Paschal Full Moon, this event bears astronomical and cultural significance. It will be visible in India on the first Sunday 13th April around 5:00.
Despite its name, the pink moon does not really look pink. According to old farmer almanacks and Indian traditions, the name of flowering pink flowers, such as creeping phlox and Moss Pink, are among the first to bloom in the spring. The pink moon symbolizes the rebirth, restore and return the vibration of nature after the winter.
This year’s pink month is extra special – it’s a micromoon, which means that the moon will be in its apogee or the farthest point of the country. As a result, it will seem about 5.1 % smaller and slightly dimly than a typical full moon. It contrasts with a supermoon that seems to be bigger when the moon is closest to the country.
