
Fuel prices in India remained unchanged at the start of the 2026-27 financial year on April 10, despite continued volatility in global oil markets due to disruptions in key shipping routes.

In the national capital New Delhi, petrol price is u ₹94.77 per liter and diesel at ₹87.67 per litre. Mumbai continues to be one of the most expensive metros for petrol ₹103.54 per liter and diesel around ₹90.03 per litre.

Petrol prices remain higher in other major cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata ₹100 per liter while diesel prices are still lower ₹100.
Global oil prices rose slightly for a second straight session, but are still on track for their steepest weekly decline since last June. The market remains highly volatile following the US-Iran ceasefire.
Brent crude is trading between $96.34 and $96.45 per barrel, while WTI crude is trading between $97.60 and $97.96 per barrel.
Indian vessels Green Asha reached JNPA safely
The Indian vessel ‘Green Asha’, which crossed the Strait of Hormuz on April 5, reached the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) safely on Thursday, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said.
Transport Ministry Additional Secretary Mukesh Mangal said in an inter-ministerial briefing that all Indian seafarers in the region are safe and no incident involving Indian-flagged vessels has been reported in the last 24 hours.
“In the last 24 hours, no incident involving Indian-flagged vessels or Indian sailors has been reported. The Indian-flagged vessel Green Asha, which crossed the Strait of Hormuz on April 5, 2026, reached JNPA today safely…,” he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the security of Indian nationals in West Asia, the briefing informed that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will pay an official visit to the UAE on April 11-12, 2026.
During the visit, he will meet the UAE leadership to review bilateral cooperation and further strengthen India-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership.
In addition, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri will pay an official visit to Qatar on April 9-10, 2026.
