Higher Education Minister MC Sudhakar said the employment-oriented Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Program (AEDP) will soon be extended to science and arts students.

He was inaugurating a one-day workshop for BCom students at Jnanajyoti Auditorium on February 13. These students studied finance, banking, logistics, e-commerce and retail for two years and will now enter industrial apprenticeships in their respective fields.

The minister emphasized the global importance of AEDP and noted that the program is in line with industry requirements and evolving economic requirements. Similar job-oriented curriculum models will soon be introduced for BSc and BA students to meet the sectoral skill needs, he said.

The minister noted that the AEDP courses of study launched in the academic year 2024-2025 have now reached a crucial stage in molding students into work-ready professionals. Students will complete their fourth and fifth semesters through hands-on training in an industrial environment, which will greatly enhance their career prospects, he said.

The minister highlighted the encouraging trend and noted that the majority of those participating in the first phase of apprenticeships are female students.
