: The Government of Kerala has to take steps to appoint permanent special educators in government and government schools who are engaged in the academic needs of various students in accordance with the command of the Supreme Court (SC) issued at the beginning of this year.

Currently, more than 2,700 special educators are working as part of Samagra Shiksha Keral (SSK). On 7 March, the Court of Justice asked all states and the territory of UT (UTS) to issue a notice of the number of sanctioned functions of special teachers by 28 March. C. Stella Margret, a special educator from Kozhikode, says that although the Supreme Court’s order came as a great relief to the community, there was a delay in conducting steps. He adds that the appointment of permanent special educators in government and government schools will help streamline services provided to various students, especially those who are on the bed and their parents. Right now, these teachers are on the basis of a contract that must be renewed every year. In the last few years, salaries have also been irregular due to the rejection of the central funds, he says.
Meanwhile, they learn that the General Education Department plans to appoint special teachers in various clusters. The government is also reportedly not interested in their permanent appointment, because it will lead to further financial obligations. Managing officials could not be approached for their comments.
