Apple released its iPhone invitation app on Tuesday as a new way to create and share custom invitations with family and friends. While the ability to create them is limited to users with iCloud+ subscriptions, anyone can RSVP, whether they have an Apple account or an Apple device. The invitation app allows them to share invitations, RSVP to share events, contribute to shared albums, and interact with Apple Music Playlists.
It’s worth noting that this is a new product that Apple didn’t advertise in 2025 at the Global Developers Conference (WWDC), where it shows off iOS 18 and all its features. However, the references were reportedly found in the latest version of iOS 18.3 beta code. Now, it has been launched worldwide.
Apple Invitation App
The Cupertino-based tech giant announced its new invitation app in a news editor post. Apple describes it as “the fusion of features that our users know and love in iPhone, iCloud, and Apple Music to make it easy to plan special events.” It is available as a free download of all iPhone models running iOS 18 or later from the App Store, or accessed on the web by navigating to iCloud.com/invites.
To create an event using Apple Invitation, users can select images from their library or wallpaper gallery. It also leverages the company’s Apple Intelligence Suite, whose image playground feature can be used to create custom images of people with concepts, descriptions, and text-based tips. The company said it could use AI-powered writing tools to adjust the text of invitations.
The application allows the host to easily manage its events. They can share the invitation through the link, view the RSVP, and select the details included in the preview – all in the invitation. Additionally, guests can view and reply to invitations through the new app, select which details they are shared with others, and then report on the activity. Plus, they can view it on the web without the need for an iCloud+ subscription or even an Apple device.
Apple’s invitation app allows participants to contribute photos and videos to dedicated shared albums in each invitation. Additionally, guests in the app can access the soundtrack of events curated through Apple Music. This is based on the existing benefits of iCloud+ subscriptions, including extended storage, private relays, Hide My Email, HomeKit Secure Video, and custom email domains.
