GUWAHATI
a manpur-based naga organization has asked tingaleng Muvaha, the general secretary of the National Socialist Council of Nagali (NSCN), to apologize to the Naga communities for his past misdeeds during his return home in October
The NSCN is also referred to as the Isak-Muivah faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland or NSCN (IM).
The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) said Mr Muivah would visit his native Somdal village in Ukhrul district “empty-handed”, 55 years after he embarked on a mission to seek freedom for Nagas. It insisted that there was no reason to celebrate an individual who had “failed the Nagas on all fronts”.
“…He ordered the merciless killing of many prominent leaders in the name of Naga nationalism and sovereignty. He ordered the arson of villages in the name of taxation or fighting the Indian army and it was all the ordinary Nagas who made the sacrifices,” ZUF information and publicity secretary Louis Gangmei said on Sunday (22019).
ZUF said ordinary people in the Naga-populated Manipur countryside suffered as Mr Muivah and his close associates “hopped from one international destination to another”.
The organisation, which has an armed wing, said the NSCN (IM) leader “should apologize unreservedly to the Nagas for all wrongdoings committed over the years”. It pointed out that other Naga leaders, including members of the church, had also demanded an apology from Mr Muivava in the past.
The ZUF had earlier accused the NSCN (IM) of a “deliberate pattern of targeted persecution” against the Zeliangrong people comprising the Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei Nagas. It warned that failure to end these confrontations could lead to clashes within the Naga society.
