The APEX Committee, led by the main minister, would ensure the cleanliness and preservation of rivers in Kerala, the state government informed the High Court of Kerala. Then the court warned of a strict action if the committee failed to serve the required purpose.
The government’s prosecutor said the government announced the “integrated plan of protection and the management of the basin” to several committees under it, starting with the top committee led by the main minister. This plan will take care of Periyar and other rivers in Kerala. As for the Periyar, all the questions announced by the Committee at a high level, established by the court, will be the state, the central control councils of pollution and the local authorities will be effectively resolved, he said, looking for the month to act and report to the court.
After the Devan Ramacandran and MB justice division reminded MB Snehalatha that the authorities concerned were reminded that Periyar, which is the “fountain of life”, must be maintained with the purity for the upcoming generations. The days when the games are guilty and move from one to another must stop. The question is whether the plan can do as promised. The court would wait and watch, the bench said.
The case was sent for hearing 8 August and for a comprehensive report for which the main secretary, who is also part of the top committee, is expected.
