The National Bank for Infrastructure and Development Finance (NaBFID) has released a loan of ₹ 7,500 crore to the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA).
Local Government and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana said the APCRDA would use the money for infrastructure development on the tracts acquired through the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) covering 29 villages.
Farmers in the region parted with their APCRDA farmland about a decade ago for the construction of the capital and the government promised to return the developed land. Now, according to him, infrastructure work would be started on these returnable LPS layouts.
“Infrastructural works related to basic amenities, development and others in the villages will be started on November 21. Roads, sewerage, drinking water pipe networks, street lights and other works will be done,” Mr. Narayana said.
This financial support will speed up major construction and infrastructure projects in the capital, said K. Kannababu, Commissioner, APCRDA, adding that it would help ensure rapid progress of development work in Amaravati.
The NaBFID representatives handed over the release orders to Mr. Kannababu in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Mr. Narayana on Friday.
“The financial assistance extended for the development of Amaravati is expected to significantly accelerate the development of the capital city. The support from NaBFID is seen as key to transform Amaravati into a world-class city with state-of-the-art infrastructure,” CRDA officials said.
