Dissatisfaction increases among the owners of apartments about the revised drinking water rate supplied in tankers that came into force at the beginning of this month.
The rates were set at a meeting convened by the district collector after frequent disputes between the owners of trucks and the association of housing apartments in this matter. According to revised rates, 2,000 liter tanker tanker is 1,000, 6,000 liters cost 1,800 GBP, 12,000 liters cost 2,600 GBP and anything over 12,000 liters is charged 170 GBP for every other 1,000 liters.
Flat & Villa Consortium Owners of Association (Kerala) threatened to upset the stir unless new rates were carried out. The organization recalled that when the truck operators unilaterally increased the level by 45% to 50% last December, the collector hit it and stopped it. “New rates benefit the tanker operators and lay a heavy burden on the owners of apartments who rely on the water supplied in tankers,” the statement issued by the Association said.
The Association of Social Care for Drinking Water in Ernakulam has argued that in Thiruvananthapurama uniform rates set for the whole district were lower than similar rates. Until now, there were no uniform drinking water rates supplied in the freight costs in the Ernacula district.
“We insisted at uniform rates after we received several complaints about poor water quality, which is supplied at lower rates,” said R. Ramacandran, Secretary General of the Association, who has nearly 400 tankers in the fleet district.
The sources of the District Administration stated that several meetings were convened at the collector’s level and the collector’s representative (disaster management) was not originally failed to solve the differences. Then the regional transport register was asked to submit a proposal taking into account various factors such as the covered distance.
“The rates that have now decided are slightly higher than what apartment owners have suggested, and lower than what the tanker owners demanded. Our trick was to find middle ground to prevent persistent tearing,” they added.
However, VS Somanathan Association Association All Kerala Flat Association has guaranteed that new rates have introduced apartment associations into a difficult position. “Many apartment owners are not willing to pay more, quote one or the other pretext and approximately carry the onslaught,” he said.
