AP Vidyut recruitment exam for AEE posts records 80.40% participation

The Andhra Pradesh Vidyut Recruitment Examination – 2026, which was held on five consecutive days starting August 23, to fill 629 Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) posts in the state-run power companies, concluded on Thursday.

The checks were carried out without irregularities thanks to careful monitoring and a number of measures taken to prevent fraud.

The Computer Based Tests (CBT) were held under tight security at 94 centers in Andhra Pradesh (81) and other states (13). Out of a total of 1,05,566 applicants, 84,905 wrote the exams, AP-Transco General Manager (HR & Administration) G. Surya Sai Praveenchand said.

12,301 candidates out of 16,183 candidates took the exam for the field of construction and 6,411 candidates out of 9,444 for the field of engineering. Of the 26,237 candidates who applied for the field of telecommunications/electronics, 19,947 took part. The largest number of candidates applied for the exam in electrical engineering 53 702, of which 46,244 in two days.

Speaking to The Hindu at the Command & Control set up at Vidyut Soudha, Mr. Praveenchand said that the power companies used to conduct the tests separately. It was the first time a joint test was held. Strict security measures have been put in place including biometric authentication, CCTV monitoring, centralized surveillance and installation of mobile jammers by Bharat Electronics Limited.

A thorough check was carried out at the entry points using biometric verification, fingerprinting/thumbprinting, photographing, verification of the original photo ID and checks. The most important part was transferring the questions to the exam servers in an encrypted format and decrypting them only after the scheduled start time.

The JMD said the provisional key will be released within three days, followed by a seven-day objection period. The final answer key, normalized score and merit list have been tentatively scheduled to be released in the last week of September 2026. The final selections and utility distribution will be based on merit, reservation norms and candidate preferences.
