AP Tourism Minister clarifies that land for Kapu Bhavan does not belong to Telugu University

Tourism and Culture Minister Kandula Durgesh and Rajamahendravaram MP D. Purandeswari on Monday performed ‘bhumi puja’ for the construction of Kapu Bhavan on 30 cents of land near the collectorate in East Godavari district.

The Kapu Bhavan, will include a function hall, will be built by the Kapu Welfare Association, which has been tasked with raising funds for the project.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Duresh said that the State Government had earmarked 30 cents of land near the Collectorate for Kapu Bhavan.

He said, “The land allotted for the Kapu Bhavan does not belong to the Sri Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, from which the state government had allotted 20 acres in 2008 for various purposes, including construction of buildings for the Agricultural University and National Academy of Civil Engineering (NAC) buildings. The interim East Godavari District Collectorate is currently functioning from the NAC campus.”

Mr. Durgesh and MLC Somu Veerraju, Kapu Welfare Association Alluri Seshu Narayana thanked Ms. Purandeswari for her role in securing land for Kapu Bhavan.
