
Top Hinduja Group officials and Andhra Pradesh government officials exchange copies of the MoU signed for investment in the state in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in London on Monday.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Hinduja Group for a cumulative investment of ₹ 20,000 crore, during his tour of the United Kingdom (UK) on Monday (November 3). In a post on ‘X’, he said these investments will accelerate industrial and clean energy growth in the state.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Ashok P. Hinduja, Chairman Hinduja Group, Prakash Hinduja, Chairman Hinduja Group Europe and Vivek Nanda, CEO Hinduja Investments & Project Services Ltd.
The CM said the key initiatives under the MoU include expansion of the existing Hinduja National Power Corporation Ltd plant. (HNPCL) of 1,050 MW at Visakhapatnam by an additional 1,600 MW (2 × 800 MW), development of large scale solar and wind projects to boost AP’s clean energy capacity, establishment of state-of-the-art network for support and mobility of electric buses and charging factories. ecological transport ecosystem of the state.
Mr. Chandrababu Naidu called on Nikki Grady-Smith, Chief Transformation Officer, Rolls-Royce Group, in a separate meeting. The duo discussed partnership opportunities in AP, particularly in civil aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities and power systems for upcoming data centers, including traditional power solutions and small modular reactors to ensure reliable and sustainable power supply.
The CM also highlighted the potential for a military airstrip and MRO unit at Orvakal and suggested exploring the possibility of setting up global capacity centers at Visakhapatnam and Tirupati and developing an aviation ecosystem and MRO facility near Bhogapuram airport.
Later, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu met the Chairman of SRAM & MRAM Group Shailesh Hiranandani followed by a meeting with the Chairman of Samko Holdings Ltd. By Sampath Kumar Mallaya. The SRAM & MRAM group has expressed interest in setting up semiconductor and advanced packaging units in the state.
The CM met Octopus Energy International Group Director Chris Fitzgerald and discussed investment opportunities in the clean energy sector and opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy, data analytics and smart grid management.
