The state government has expedited procurement of paddy across the state and created a new record in the process.
The Ministry of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has announced remarkable progress 15 days after commencement of Kharif paddy procurement for the 2025-26 season.
A record 1,46,607 MT of rice was procured on December 10 alone. So far, a total of 3,24,296 farmers have supplied 20,64,673 MT of paddy and the government has disbursed ₹4,609.89 crore directly into farmers’ accounts, Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar said.
In a statement on Thursday, he said it is a historic achievement that 1,71,651 MT of paddy rice has already been dispatched to Food Corporation of India (FCI) through Central Marketing Rice (CMR) in 15 days of procurement.
To ensure smooth transport and logistics, the government has mobilized 32,000 trucks along with tractors, mini tractors and special trains, he said.
Mr. Manohar highlighted that emergency measures have been taken in Krishna, Guntur and Bapatla districts due to heavy rains and the impact of Cyclone Ditwah. Inter-district transfer permission has been granted to 106 rice mills in Krishna district to facilitate timely processing.
The minister emphasized that the government’s focus remains on supporting farmers through transparent procurement processes, timely payments, strict monitoring of mills and daily progress checks.
He praised the coalition government of the state and the proactive administration of the ministry for achieving record level of public procurement in the current kharif season.
