The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) accused the NDA government of resorting to counter-attack when asked about its “mismanagement” of state finances.
Addressing the media in Hyderabad on Saturday, former Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy alleged that the government is trying to downplay the facts raised by YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy about state finances.
“Although the government is trying to counter our claims, the reality is that our position is justified as always,” he said.
“We categorically stated that the budget figures do not add up because there is a gaping gap between the allocations and the requirement to fulfill the promises. We pointed out that the loans obtained by the government do not match the social programs because the number of beneficiaries is drastically reduced and the numbers do not match,” he said.
Loans of more than ₹ 3,00,000 crore are not eligible for Super Six. The number of beneficiaries of Thalliki Vandanam, pensions, Annadatha Sukhibhav and others have been drastically reduced, he said, adding that this was what Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is part of the responsible opposition, had reminded the government.
Though there was a lot of talk about women empowerment, none of the schemes were implemented as promised during the election campaign, Mr. Rajendranath Reddy said.
