AP-Genco MD calls for responsible conservation of electricity and water
Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (AP-Genco) MD and State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) CEO S. Nagalakshmi on Sunday urged people to act responsibly in conserving electricity and water, reducing plastic consumption and managing waste effectively.
“Protecting the environment is not only the responsibility of governments. Meaningful change can only be achieved when every individual adopts eco-friendly practices as part of their daily lives,” she said on the occasion of the BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week (BSLW), which is being held from November 1 to 7 in line with the objectives of the LiFE Centre’s Mission – Lifestyle for the Environment BRICS26 in India26.
Within BSLW, a series of daily activities were organized around the seven key themes identified within the LiFE mission. These include adopting a healthy lifestyle, saving energy, saving water, promoting sustainable food practices, reducing single-use plastics, minimizing electronic waste (e-waste) and reducing general waste.
An action plan for the implementation of these activities has already been circulated to AP-Genco, AP-Transco and DISCOMs officials, she said and reiterated that environmental protection is a responsibility that needs to be passed on for the benefit of future generations.
