AP-Genco felicitates Indian cricketer Sree Charani for her international achievements

Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (AP-Genco) Managing Director S. Nagalakshmi and other officials felicitated Indian international cricketer Nallapureddy Sree Charani, daughter of Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant employee Chandrasekhar Reddy, at the Vidyut Soudha here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Nagalakshmi said that she was proud that the families of power sector employees had produced outstanding athletes to represent India in international cricket.

She recalled that former Indian men’s cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin, son of late Mohammad Azizuddin, who served in the erstwhile AP State Electricity Board, had brought great honor to the nation through his distinguished cricketing career. Similarly, Ms. Sree Charani has now earned a place in the Indian women’s cricket team and won laurels on the international stage, she said.

Ms Nagalakshmi lauded Sree Charani’s impressive display of 14 scalps in five matches during the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup as a slow orthodox left-arm bowler, adding that she has also established herself as a left-handed batsman. Meanwhile, Ms. Sree Charani is the first female cricketer from Kadapa district to represent India.

AP-Genco Directors V. Usha, M. Sujay Kumar and P. Ashok Kumar Reddy, APPDCL Director Srinivasa Rao, AP-Transco Directors AKV Bhaskar, JV Rao and Venkata Ramana Murthy and family members of Sree Charani were also present on the occasion.
